The 2026 Creative Arts Emmys, held this weekend at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, honored the creative talents behind the most popular television shows of the past year. Shows like The Pitt, Widow’s Bay, and Spider-Noir were among those celebrated for their artistic contributions. The event recognizes behind-the-scenes work such as acting, directing, and writing, often highlighting performances that may not have received attention at the main Emmy ceremony. The late Rob Reiner, best known for directing films like The Princess Bride, was posthumously awarded for his performance in The Bear. Reiner, who was 78 when he died in December 2025, was found with apparent stab wounds at his home, along with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, who was 70 at the time. Their son, Nick Reiner, 32, was charged with their murders and pleaded not guilty for a second time in August 2026. Reiner’s win at the Emmys was met with a standing ovation. Presenter Wendi McLendon-Covey remarked that it was fitting to stand for the award, calling it an honor to accept it on Reiner’s behalf. In The Bear, Reiner played business consultant Albert Schnur in three episodes of season four. Other notable winners included Shailene Woodley, who received her first Emmy for a guest role in Paradise season two. Widow’s Bay took home eight awards, including best comedy guest actress for Betty Gilpin. DTF St. Louis won six awards, among them best limited or movie supporting actor for David Harbour and best limited or movie supporting actress for Linda Cardellini. Spider-Noir, despite being cancelled after just one season, managed to win five Emmys. Ernest Harden Jr. won best guest actor in a drama series for The Pitt, while Dame Julie Andrews received an Emmy for her voiceover work in Bridgerton at age 90. This made her the oldest person to ever win an Emmy, breaking her own previous record. The ceremony highlighted not only the artistic achievements in television but also the enduring legacy of those who have contributed to the medium, even in their absence.
