Paul Walker’s brother, Cody Walker, has proposed that artificial intelligence could be used to bring the character of Brian O’Conner back for the final Fast & Furious movie, Fast Forever. He mentioned that there is a substantial amount of unused footage from earlier films that could be used in this effort. Cody, who helped finish Furious 7 after Paul Walker’s death in 2013, said the final decision should be made by Walker’s daughter, Meadow, adding, “It’s what Meadow wants to see done; it’s her father.” He also said he would not be interested in working on such a project again, expressing respect for how his brother’s character left the franchise—choosing family life over the high-speed world of street racing. Paul Walker died in a car crash in Santa Clarita, California, on 30 November 2013, while Furious 7 was still in production. The Los Angeles County coroner ruled his death an accident, caused by a combination of traumatic and thermal injuries after the Porsche Carrera GT he was in crashed and caught fire. At the time, Cody and his brother Caleb, along with actor John Brotherton, stood in for Walker during the remaining filming, while visual effects artists used existing footage and digital effects to reconstruct his appearance. Fast Forever is expected to wrap up the Fast & Furious franchise, which has spanned 11 films and made over $7 billion worldwide. Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto, said last year that he wanted the final film to reunite Dom with Brian O’Conner. He outlined three conditions for the finale, including returning to Los Angeles, emphasizing car culture and street racing, and reuniting Dom and Brian. At a 25th-anniversary screening of The Fast and the Furious at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2026, Diesel reflected on Walker, saying, “It’s so hard for me to watch it because there’s so many moments in this movie that you see, that I see differently.” He also recalled a scene where Walker, known by his nickname “Pablo,” told him he had a one-year-old daughter. The Fast & Furious franchise began in 2001 with The Fast and the Furious, following Brian O’Conner, an undercover police officer investigating a group of street racers led by Dominic Toretto. Over the years, the series has grown into a massive global phenomenon, with spin-offs like Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, and has become one of the most successful film franchises in history. The upcoming Fast Forever is expected to bring the story full circle, offering fans a final chapter that honors the legacy of its late star, Paul Walker.
