Explorer finds rare Bentley in barn

Colin Smith, known online as The Bearded Explorer, discovered a 1928 Bentley 4.5 liters inside an abandoned barn in the United Kingdom. The car, hidden under layers of dust and spider webs, appeared to be in remarkably good condition despite being untouched for decades.

Abandoned property yields classic cars

During his exploration, Colin found several classic cars and vehicles left behind in the overgrown property. Among them were a Reliant Robin, a rusted BMW 323, and various parts of old Jaguars and a motorcycle. He noted that the BMW had likely been abandoned for a very long time.

Barn holds a forgotten treasure

As Colin pushed open the barn door, he found an interior that had not been disturbed for years. Spider webs and old machinery filled the space, and among them stood the massive silhouette of the Bentley. He described the scene as "frozen for decades," emphasizing how untouched it had been.

Bentley in remarkable condition

Despite the dust and age, the 1928 Bentley 4.5 liters showed only minor signs of wear, such as a small rust spot on its right rear wing. The car’s unique smell, a mix of oil, grease, and old machinery, added to the atmosphere. According to the V5 documents, it had not been registered since 2012, indicating a long period of inactivity.

Historical significance and value

The 1928 Bentley 4.5 liters was one of approximately 720 units produced between 1927 and 1931. It is also famous for winning the 1928 24 Hours of Le Mans. Restored examples of this model can fetch over 930,000 euros, with some selling for more than 2.55 million euros. Colin called finding the car "simply remarkable."
