Gilles Lellouche discusses collaboration with Mylène Farmer

Gilles Lellouche spoke about his work with French singer Mylène Farmer while promoting the film Moulin, directed by László Nemes, which is now in theaters. He shared insights about his recent collaboration with Farmer, which included directing a music video for her new album.

Music video premieres in multiple countries

The music video premiered in about 100 cinemas across France, Quebec, Belgium, and Switzerland on Tuesday, October 27. It is part of Farmer’s upcoming album Egregore, set for release on October 30.

Other directors contribute to the album

Other notable directors, including Antonin Baudry, Julia Ducournau, and Thierry Poiraud, have also directed videos for Egregore. This indicates a collaborative effort among several prominent filmmakers in the project.

Lellouche returns to music video direction

Lellouche mentioned he hadn’t directed a music video in 20 years and was initially rusty. However, he found the creative process returning quickly, recalling his earlier work in the late 1990s with artists like MC Solaar and Pascal Obispo.

Positive experience working with Mylène Farmer

He described working with Mylène Farmer as a positive experience, highlighting her enthusiasm for cinema and music. He noted that her public image, often associated with mystery and a dark, gothic style, contrasts with his personal experience of her being kind, funny, and approachable.
