Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Buds On, a new earbud model that breaks from the traditional in-ear design of the Galaxy Buds line. Instead of fitting inside the ear canal, these earbuds use a clip system that positions them on the earlobe. This design aims to provide greater comfort during long use while allowing users to stay aware of their surroundings. The product was launched alongside the Galaxy Tab S12 and SmartTag 3, but details about its availability in the United States have not been specified by Samsung.
The Galaxy Buds On were developed using detailed analysis of different ear shapes and advanced simulations to optimize the placement of speakers and batteries. Each earbud weighs 6.65 grams, and the charging case weighs 41 grams. The earbuds use Bluetooth 6.2 and support wireless charging. They also have tactile controls on the back of each earbud for managing music and calls.
To improve sound quality for open earbuds, Samsung has included a special speaker technology called TwinBoost. This helps with reproducing low-frequency sounds, which can be challenging for open designs. The earbuds also have an automatic volume control system that adjusts sound levels based on the user's environment. An Audio Leakage Reduction feature aims to limit sound from escaping, even in quiet settings. The earbuds use Qualcomm's Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 audio platform and a high-efficiency Class D amplifier, offering up to 9.5 hours of playback on a single charge.
The Galaxy Buds On integrate with Samsung's Galaxy AI ecosystem, allowing users to launch Gemini Live with a voice command, record voice memos with a long press on the earbud, and manage calls and notifications using head gestures. These features require compatible Galaxy AI devices, the Samsung Voice Recorder app, and Bixby. The Galaxy Buds On will be available in South Korea starting October 27 in a single black color, priced at 299,000 won, or approximately 200 euros. Samsung plans to gradually expand the product to other international markets, though specific release dates and prices for Europe or France have not been announced.
