The Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM), which is linked to the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), will host Doc Square 2026 from October 10 to 13. This event aims to bring together documentary filmmakers and industry experts from across Asia. Doc Square 2026 will feature eight partner organizations from five different countries, creating a platform for networking and collaboration. Doc Square was launched last year as a new initiative within the ACFM. It focuses on showcasing documentary projects that are still in the production phase, giving filmmakers a chance to present their work and connect with potential collaborators, investors, or broadcasters. This provides an early opportunity for feedback and support, which can be crucial for the development of a documentary. The event will take place during the larger Busan International Film Festival, a major event in the Asian film calendar that attracts filmmakers, distributors, and movie enthusiasts from around the world. By integrating Doc Square into this festival, organizers hope to increase visibility for documentary filmmaking and encourage more investment in the genre. This year's Doc Square will highlight a diverse range of documentary projects from across Asia, showcasing the region's rich storytelling traditions and contemporary issues. The inclusion of international partners also reflects a growing interest in cross-border collaboration in documentary filmmaking, which can lead to more impactful and globally resonant stories.
