Lebara, a mobile service provider, has launched a new 5G mobile plan in France that offers 200 GB of data per month for 9.99 euros. This plan, which is based on the SFR network, includes unlimited calls and SMS within France. The data allowance is split between 4G+/5G, with 8 GB available for use in the European Union and its overseas departments (DOM). The SIM card is free, and customers can switch their existing phone number to Lebara without paying extra. The plan renews every 30 days and does not require a long-term contract, giving users flexibility. A mobile app called MyLebara allows users to monitor their data usage, recharge their account, or add additional services such as Passes. However, international calls and SMS are not included in the basic package. Users who need to use data outside the EU and DOM must purchase a separate Travel Pass. According to Arcep, the French telecommunications regulatory authority, the average monthly mobile data consumption in France was about 16 GB in 2024. Lebara’s 200 GB plan is much larger than this average, making it suitable for users with high data needs. The plan is particularly appealing to those who require a large amount of data without being tied to a long-term contract. This new offering highlights a growing trend in the mobile industry toward more flexible, no-commitment plans. As data usage continues to rise, especially with the increasing reliance on streaming and online services, providers are adapting by offering more data at lower costs. Lebara’s plan aims to cater to this demand while maintaining a competitive price point.
