Since 2013, Radio Live has offered a platform for young people around the world to discuss the conflicts that shape history. In The day after, part of a new cycle launched in 2024, artist Aurélie Charon and her team explore the rebuilding of cities and the restoration of dialogue by traveling to Kyiv, Ukraine, and Cairo, Egypt. This long-running project, described as a large, traveling human fresco, has used Radio Live for over ten years to share voices from countries and regions affected by wars and revolutions.
In this new cycle, Charon focuses on themes such as dialogue, resistance, cohabitation, restoration, and transformation in areas where communities have been deeply affected by conflict. The project blends personal stories with the music of Emma Prat and live visual art by Gala Vanson, highlighting the experiences of participants from Ukraine and the Middle East. Two separate chapters examine how Ukrainians have redefined their identity since the war began and the situation in Cairo after the Arab Spring revolutions. Together, these chapters create a map of resilience and recovery.
The day after is designed as a space where personal friendship meets political action, combining a theatrical radio performance with a live archive of voices and stories. The project features contributions from several collaborators, including Amélie Bonnin, Gala Vanson, and Emma Prat, among others. The work aims to highlight the power of human connection in times of crisis and change.
Chapter 1 – Obstiné·es (Kyiv) was performed at Chaillot – National Dance Theatre from 5 to 7 November 2026, and at the Theatre of Corbeil-Essonnes on 4 December. Chapter 2 – Obstiné·es (Cairo) was also presented at Chaillot – National Dance Theatre from 6 to 7 November and at the Theatre of Corbeil-Essonnes on 4 December. The project has received support from various cultural institutions, as well as funding from the Ministry of Culture and the Hermès Enterprise Foundation.
