Luke Littler is striving to create history by becoming the first darts player to win all 10 televised major tournaments in a single calendar year. So far in 2026, he has already claimed victories in the World Championship, World Masters, UK Open, Premier League, and World Matchplay. He also partnered with fellow English player Luke Humphries to win the World Cup. His challenge continues at the World Series of Darts finals in Amsterdam, where he will face the home favourite, Danny Noppert, in the opening round on Friday. Littler’s goal is unprecedented in the sport. He has already secured wins in the first five of the ten major events, and if he wins the World Series of Darts, he will be just one match away from completing his historic quest. Phil Taylor, a former dominant force in the sport, once held all the major titles at the same time in 2009 and 2010, but not in the same calendar year. Additionally, there were fewer major tournaments back then, making Littler’s challenge even more ambitious. Littler admits that losing the World Series of Darts would be a major setback, as it would end his pursuit of a clean sweep. He previously won the tournament in 2024 but was defeated by Michael van Gerwen in last year’s final. However, Littler has shown resilience in recent matches, including a semi-final victory over van Gerwen at the Czech Darts Open. Van Gerwen, who has won the World Series of Darts five times—most recently in 2023—admitted he did not play at his best in that encounter. Van Gerwen is also competing in the World Series of Darts, where he will begin his campaign against Daryl Gurney on Thursday. He described his 2023 victory as an emotional milestone in his career. Meanwhile, Littler remains focused on continuing his strong performance against top players like van Gerwen and maintaining his record in the tournament. In the opening round, Luke Humphries will face Jermaine Wattimena, adding to the excitement of the event.
