Job fair highlights ecological and social roles

A job fair centered on ecological and social transition roles was held in Marseille, organized by the Regen School, which trains managers focused on impact-driven work. The event brought together 100 participants and was co-created in September by the Regen School and the Tiers-Lab des Transitions, a Marseille-based space dedicated to ecological transition.

Benoit Lecat's shift to impact entrepreneurship

Benoit Lecat, a manager from Candide Blue, described receiving an "ecological shock" when confronting the realities of planetary limits. He sold his family's century-old business in 2024, which employed 400 people, and transitioned to impact entrepreneurship, aiming to eliminate plastic bottle use in France through innovative water filtration technology.

Lecat's water filtration innovation

Lecat’s company is developing a customized filtration system that targets regional pollutants such as PFAS, microplastics, chlorine, pharmaceutical residues, and nitrates. He described the innovation as a combination of Brita and SodaStream technologies, aiming to restore confidence in tap water. The system is expected to be produced in Europe for less than 200 euros by 2027.

Scarlett Jochmans and healthcare sustainability

Scarlett Jochmans, an energy and environmental transition advisor at the Hôpitaux de Provence, cited the Shift Project's report Decarbonize health to heal sustainably. She noted that the national health sector contributes 8% to the country’s carbon footprint and is part of a network of over 5,000 hospital groups working to reduce their environmental impact.

CTEES and its role in health sector sustainability

The CTEES network, of which Jochmans is a member, supports hospitals and care institutions by conducting audits, developing action plans, and improving air quality and energy efficiency. She focuses on reducing single-use plastics and eco-designing care, while her colleague Romain Picard focuses on energy consumption, mobility, and construction projects.

Support for ecological innovation

Benoit Lecat emphasized the need for "audacity" in driving the transition and noted that his company, Candide Blue, is receiving support from the Public Investment Bank (BPI) through its DeepTech Tour 2030 program. He expressed concern that the ecological emergency is not a top priority for economic and political leaders.

Tiers-Lab des Transitions and its mission

The Tiers-Lab des Transitions is a 6,000 m² space in Marseille dedicated to ecological transition, open to businesses, local authorities, entrepreneurs, and citizens. It offers coworking, gardens, and cultural programming to foster a greener and more solidarity-based future and is currently seeking new members for its cooperative structure.

Convention of Enterprises for the Climate

The Convention of Enterprises for the Climate (CEC), created in 2020, supports business leaders in transforming their models to address environmental and social challenges. The goal is to shift from an extractive economy to a regenerative one by 2030, and over 3,400 decision-makers have joined the initiative in its first five years.

The Shift Project's climate-energy insights

The Shift Project, a think tank founded in 2010 by engineer Jean-Marc Jancovici, focuses on climate-energy challenges. It aims to influence policy and public discourse by providing research and analysis on the intersection of energy use and environmental sustainability.
