Rhodaniens face higher gas prices, winter safety rules, and eviction pauses starting November 1st.
Gas prices rise in Rhône
Gas prices in the Rhône region have increased by 6.6% including all taxes (TTC) compared to October. The reference selling price for natural gas has risen from 182.88 to 194.90 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh), which is an average increase of 12 euros.Winter truce begins
A winter truce has started on November 1st and will remain in effect until March 31st next year. During this period, eviction procedures are paused, even if the necessary conditions are met and a favorable court decision has been made.Protection from utility disconnections
The winter truce also protects occupants of their primary residence from electricity and gas disconnections related to unpaid bills. However, this protection does not cover evictions related to domestic violence or those involving planned housing solutions.Winter driving equipment required
From November 1st to March 31st next year, drivers in 96 communes of the Rhône department must be equipped for snow and black ice. Light vehicles, vans, and campers must have four winter tires or chains or snow socks for at least two driven wheels.Fines for non-compliance
Failure to comply with the winter driving equipment requirements may result in a fine of 135 euros and vehicle immobilization. The list of affected communes is available on the prefecture's website.Electric scooter regulations tightened
Authorities in the Rhône have intensified enforcement of electric scooter regulations. Since September 28, users without a helmet or reflective vest can be fined. The helmet fine is 135 euros, and the reflective vest fine is 35 euros.Pension increase for retirees
The pensions of Agirc-Arrco, which covers private sector retirees, are increased by 1.4%. Nearly 14 million retirees are affected, including those receiving a 552 euro gross pension, which will now be 559.73 euros after the increase.Changes to daily allowances
The rules for calculating daily allowances paid by the Social Security in the event of work-related accidents or occupational diseases have changed. The income ceiling used in the calculation is now reduced, and the change applies only to incidents occurring from this date onward.
