Nacon has introduced the Revolution 5 Unlimited, the first officially licensed PlayStation controller to include a built-in screen and a charging station. The screen lets users adjust various controller settings during gameplay, such as game and headset volume, microphone gain with a wired headset, joystick curves and dead zones, gyroscope settings, vibrations, brightness, and screen sleep mode. It also allows users to record, activate, or disable seven controller shortcuts. According to Nacon, more than half of these settings can be adjusted directly through the screen, without needing an external application.
The controller includes a charging station that connects to the PS5 or PC using a 3-meter USB-A to USB-C cable. The controller attaches to the station using magnetic connectors, and the wireless dongle can be stored in the station or connected directly to the console or PC. Nacon claims the controller provides over 10 hours of battery life when the screen and RGB lighting are at maximum, and a full charge can be achieved in under two hours via cable.
The Revolution 5 Unlimited comes with additional accessories, including three types of joystick heads (convex, concave, and elevated concave), two directional crosses with 4 and 8 directions, weights of 10, 14, and 16 grams for the handles, metal rings to reduce stick travel, a case, and a cloth. The buttons, triggers, cross, and four back shortcuts use microswitches, similar to those found in high-quality gaming mice.
The controller uses TMR (tunnel magneto resistance) joysticks, which Nacon claims are more precise, durable, and energy-efficient compared to Hall effect joysticks used in the Revolution X Unlimited. These joysticks detect position through changes in electrical resistance rather than voltage. The controller allows advanced settings adjustments through a mobile application connected via Bluetooth, supporting joystick curves, dead zones for the sticks and triggers, RGB lighting, and profiles. On PC and Mac, a simple tool will be used for firmware updates.
The Revolution 5 Unlimited can mix the sound from the console and a connected smartphone via Bluetooth and send it to a headset connected via the jack, allowing users to listen to a podcast while playing and adjust the volume of each source from the screen. However, the microphone remains dedicated to the console's voice chat. This feature is not commonly found on PlayStation controllers, though it is present on some gaming headsets.
On the PS5, the controller does not support haptic feedback or adaptive triggers, and it cannot wake up the console. Vibrations only work on PC. There is also no touchpad like on the DualSense, and some functions may not be fully supported in games that rely on them for precise actions, such as Ghost of Tsushima. Nacon states the controller is aimed primarily at online competitive games, though some features are missing compared to high-end PS5 controllers.
On PC, the controller connects via dongle, Bluetooth, or cable. Recognition in PlayStation controller mode depends on the games and Steam. In Bluetooth mode, it can also work with compatible cloud gaming services on connected televisions. Nacon notes that Sony has not tested or validated these uses outside of the PS5. The controller offers a polling rate of 1,000 Hz in wired mode and 500 Hz in wireless mode with the dongle on PC. The PC mode also allows the use of macros and assigning keyboard keys to shortcuts. The gyroscope can imitate a joystick for aiming by tilting the controller in games that do not support this aiming.
The Revolution 5 Unlimited is priced at 199.99 euros and is available for pre-order on the Nacon website. The supplied dongle is not sold separately at launch but will be available later, allowing users to use one on their PS5 and another on their PC. The launch occurs amid financial difficulties for Nacon, which has been in judicial recovery since March 2, 2026, as part of its parent company Bigben Interactive's restructuring process. Despite this, Nacon's press relations manager stated that teams and production lines continue to operate.
