Indira Ampiot, the former Miss France 2023, recently unveiled her national costume for the Miss World 2026 competition, which will be held in Vietnam on September 5. The competition is a multi-day event with several stages, similar to other major pageants like Miss Universe and Miss Supranational. During a runway show on Wednesday, Ampiot walked with other candidates wearing their national costumes, showcasing the cultural and artistic heritage of their countries. On Instagram, she described her outfit as a tribute to the art of French haute couture and the artisans who preserve this intricate craftsmanship across generations. Ampiot’s costume features tweed, pearls, camellias, crystals, and meters of fabric, with every detail symbolizing the connection between creation, precision, and the passing down of skills. The Miss World competition involves 111 candidates, and the winner will be decided by both a jury and public voting. According to the official Miss World website, the jury includes notable figures from various fields such as fashion, entertainment, philanthropy, and business, as well as leaders from the Miss World organization. In addition to Indira Ampiot, three other French participants are competing in the Miss World 2026 competition, each representing an overseas territory. These include Audrey Ho-Wen-Tsaï from Guyana, Annaëlle Ibo from Guadeloupe, and Laurence Fibleuil from Martinique. This year marks the 73rd edition of the Miss World competition, with the final event scheduled for September 5. In the previous edition, held in May 2025, Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand was crowned Miss World. Indira Ampiot has experience in international pageants, having represented France in the Miss Universe 2024 competition in Mexico. However, following the Miss Universe 2025 event in Thailand, which faced significant challenges, the Miss France organization has decided to distance itself from the competition. Instead, they are focusing on the less well-known Miss Supranational competition, held in Poland. In this competition, Eve Gilles, a French participant, was named first runner-up, while the title was won by Katrina Llegado from the Philippines.
