Gathering at a shopping center

A group of between 300 and 400 people gathered around a Carrefour shopping center in Lattes during the night of Saturday, October 10, to watch motorized drifts.

Police response

The local police were alerted at 1:50 a.m. and arrived at the scene to assess the situation.

Scene description

Upon arrival, officers found several hundred people forming a circle around vehicles that were performing drifts, a driving technique where a vehicle turns sharply while sliding on two wheels.

Public event context

Such gatherings are not uncommon in areas where motorized drifts are held as public events, though they can sometimes lead to safety concerns for nearby residents and businesses.
