New regional leader unveils plan

François de Canson, newly elected head of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region, has introduced an emergency plan to address urgent issues in high schools. The plan includes a proposed 6 million euro fund to be voted on by regional officials on October 23.

Funds target infrastructure repairs

The proposed fund will primarily focus on repairing damages and renovating restrooms in high schools. Additional measures will aim to improve thermal comfort in school buildings, ensuring a more pleasant learning environment for students.

New reporting platform introduced

A new platform called Allô Lycées will be launched to allow students, parents, teachers, and regional staff to anonymously report difficulties and submit proposals. This initiative aims to create a direct channel for communication and problem-solving.

Audit and emergency response teams

A comprehensive audit of each school will be conducted, and departmental intervention teams will be deployed to handle technical emergencies. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure the safety and functionality of school infrastructure.

Community service and legal support

The region also promises to support school principals who file complaints about damages. A total of 10,000 hours of community service work will be available in high schools, with the allocation of these hours to be decided by the judiciary.

Consultation with school supervisors and youth

An extraordinary meeting with 300 high school supervisors will be held on October 20 to identify priority needs. The Regional Youth Parliament, scheduled for October 24, will involve over 200 young people in decision-making processes.

Leader emphasizes listening and responsibility

François de Canson emphasized the importance of listening to students and providing concrete solutions. However, he also warned that funds allocated to repairs cannot be used for other purposes, highlighting the need for responsible budgeting.
