Chrome updates with AI auto-fill

Google has updated its Chrome browser to include an AI-powered auto-fill feature that connects with Gmail. This update, launched on October 28, 2026, in the United States, allows Chrome to automatically fill out forms by extracting information from a user's connected email account.

AI extracts specific data from emails

The feature uses Google's Gemini AI to scan emails for specific types of information, such as reservation codes, order numbers, and package tracking details. This data is then suggested to users when they need to fill out forms online, reducing the need for manual input.

New auto-fill expands beyond saved data

Previously, Chrome’s auto-fill function only suggested data that users had manually saved, like names or addresses. The new update expands this by scanning the inbox for information that wasn’t previously recorded by the user.

Suggested by Gemini labels appear

The AI-generated suggestions are labeled "Suggested by Gemini" and can be easily accepted, edited, or removed by the user with a single click. This makes it simple for users to choose whether to use the suggested information or input their own.

Personal Intelligence rolls out since 2026

Since January 2026, Google has been rolling out Personal Intelligence, a system that links its AI to multiple applications within a user’s account, including Gmail, YouTube, and search history. This system learns from a user’s daily activities to improve its suggestions over time.

AI refines suggestions based on user activity

When a user fills out a form, the AI analyzes the content of their emails to provide relevant information. This continuous learning helps the system become more accurate and tailored to the user's needs.
