Christian Spuck's contract extended

Christian Spuck's contract as director and choreographer of the Staatsballett Berlin has been extended until July 31, 2033, according to a decision made by the Berlin Opera Foundation's board during a meeting on October 8, 2026.

Original contract end date

Spuck's original contract was set to end in July 2028, but the extension will now keep him in his role for several more years, allowing for continued artistic development with the company.

Spuck's artistic vision

The choreographer expressed that the extension will enable him to continue the artistic work he has undertaken with the Staatsballett Berlin and to explore "new artistic paths" in the future.

Spuck's tenure and achievements

Christian Spuck has been at the head of the Staatsballett Berlin since August 1, 2023, and recently received the German Dance Award (Deutscher Tanzpreis) in 2026, recognizing his contributions to the dance world.
