Stage adaptation of a literary work

Stage director Anne-Sophie Pauchet has adapted Louise Chennevière’s work Comme la chienne for the stage. The adaptation brings the text’s themes and language to a theatrical setting, focusing on the voices of women and their experiences in a patriarchal society.

Themes and language of the production

The piece explores themes of violence, desire, shame, and anger through the voices of women, using a raw and visceral language. The writing is described as intense and embodied, echoing the texts of Virginie Despentes or Marguerite Duras, where the intimate becomes eminently political.

Cast and creative team

The production features actresses Nadège Cathelineau and Valérie Diome, alongside Maylise Lieubray, who provides singing. It also includes contributions from visual artist Diane Gaignoux, as well as lighting and set design by Arnaud Troalic and video creation by Pierre Agoutin.

It is produced by Compagnie Akté in collaboration with Le Tangram, Scène nationale d’Evreux, and supported by several cultural institutions, including the CDN de Normandie-Rouen, Le Volcan, Scène nationale du Havre, L’étincelle – Théâtre de la ville de Rouen, and Théâtre des Bains Douches au Havre.
