A man was captured on security camera footage entering the home of a family in early September. The video shows the man climbing over the house's gate and then using a ladder to climb through an open window on the second floor. Once inside, he removed his shoes and t-shirt, ate yogurt and other foods from the refrigerator, and took a short nap on a mattress in the entrance. He remained in the house for approximately 30 minutes. During this time, Nash, a 4-year-old Golden Retriever weighing approximately 41 kg, was present. Rather than barking or trying to drive the intruder away, Nash approached the man multiple times with a toy in his mouth, seemingly inviting him to play or offering a warm welcome. The family was able to observe the intrusion via their connected camera and called the police immediately. When the police arrived, Nash greeted them in the same manner, offering his toy. The intruder attempted to escape through a bathroom window but was arrested by police waiting in the garden. The family expressed hope that the man would receive help. While Nash may not be the best house guardian, his approach to welcoming visitors has been noted as unusual.
