Race starts in November

The competitors of the Route du Rhum will depart on November 1st from Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) to sail to Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe. This race is a well-known transatlantic sailing event that attracts professional and amateur sailors from around the world.

Violette Dorange joins the race

Among the competitors is Violette Dorange, a young sailor who gained recognition after participating in the last Vendée Globe, which took place from 2024 to 2025. The Vendée Globe is a prestigious solo, non-stop around-the-world sailing race.

School engagement with sailor

Violette Dorange participated in a question-and-answer session with 25 CM2 students from the Merville school in Lorient (Morbihan). The session was part of an outreach effort to engage with young people and share knowledge about sailing and the challenges of long-distance racing.

Students' positive reaction

The children took the exercise very seriously but quickly relaxed in the presence of the spontaneous and very natural young skipper. Violette's approachable and energetic personality helped create a friendly and engaging atmosphere for the students.
