Charrier's departure confirmed

Frédéric Charrier, the attack coach of Clermont, has confirmed that his tenure with the club will end in June 2027. In an interview with Midi Olympique, he expressed disappointment with the decision but did not elaborate on the specific reasons.

Continuing until contract ends

Charrier emphasized that he will continue to lead the attack for several more months, honoring his contract as he did previously at Bordeaux-Bègles after the departure of Christophe Urios. He plans to seek a new challenge after his current role concludes.

History with Urios and past roles

Charrier has a long history with Urios, dating back to their meeting in 2007 in Oyonnax. Together, they have worked at Castres, Bordeaux, and Clermont, where they arrived in 2023. Following Charrier's departure, Joe El-Abd will take charge of the professional team, while Urios will oversee the OneASM project.

Clermont's difficult season

Clermont's current season has been challenging, with the team occupying 12th place after seven matches, having won only two of those games. The team has scored 166 points but conceded 196, indicating defensive and offensive struggles.

Team's inconsistencies noted

Charrier noted that the team has moments of brilliance but lacks consistency, particularly in areas such as running without the ball, passing timing, and support. He acknowledged the pressure of leading the team through this uncertain period and the challenge of maintaining player commitment and refining team dynamics.

Upcoming match and legacy

Clermont will face the Racing 92, currently 13th in the league, in an upcoming match. Charrier emphasized the need to leave behind a progressing team rather than an unfinished project.
