EarPods remain affordable at Amazon

Apple EarPods wired earphones and in-ear headphones are currently listed at 14.15 € at Amazon, according to a report. These are currently the best wired earphones and in-ear headphones at an affordable price in a comparison that tested 4 models in a laboratory.

Simple design and ease of use

The EarPods continue to rely on a simple formula: a light format, immediate use, and an open design intended for comfort. At the time of wireless earphones and more isolating in-ear models, they maintain a unique offering, between accessibility, ease of use, and assumed compromises.

Strengths of the EarPods

Apple EarPods have strengths including clear and open sound rendering, good emphasis on voices, a pleasant comfort sensation if the user's morphology allows it, a non-intrusive format, and a complete and pleasant-to-touch remote control. However, they have weaknesses such as a lack of bass and dynamics, mediocre sound accuracy, no isolation, improvable retention, and a non-universal design. The remote control is only compatible with Apple products.

Practical but limited

The Apple EarPods are described as simple, light, and very easy to use wired earphones: no battery, no pairing, a practical physical remote control, and an immediate connection. Their open design makes them also comfortable for those who do not appreciate in-ear headphones, even if the retention strongly depends on each person's morphology. Their audio performance remains correct for calls, podcasts, and occasional music listening, with clear voices and a fairly natural reproduction. However, the bass lacks impact, the sound accuracy is mediocre, the isolation is almost non-existent, and the construction, well finished but light, does not inspire great durability in the long term. The EarPods remain therefore a practical and accessible wired solution, but limited for sports, noisy environments, or really demanding listening.
