Volkswagen has announced plans to integrate **AirConsole**, a gaming platform designed for vehicles, into several of its 2027 car models. This feature will enable users to play games directly on the car's infotainment screen, using their smartphones as controllers. Instead of requiring separate game controllers, users will connect their phones by scanning a QR code shown on the screen. At launch, Volkswagen will offer twenty games, including classics like Tetris, Pac-Man Championship Edition, and Uno Car Party, aimed at entertaining both adults and children. These games are designed for multiplayer use, allowing families to play together during stops at service areas or rest stations. Rachael Zaluzec, marketing director of Volkswagen of America, stated that incorporating video games into cars will turn routine moments into shared experiences. She explained that the feature is intended to help families and friends bond, laugh, and spend time together while traveling in Volkswagen vehicles. Some of the games will include Volkswagen-specific elements, such as the company’s logos and vehicles appearing as bonus items in Pac-Man. The gaming feature will only be available when the vehicle is parked, primarily to make waiting times more enjoyable—such as during long road trips or when stopping to recharge an electric car. The feature is currently being introduced in the United States and will be included in six 2027 models: the Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, Golf GTI, Golf R, and ID. Buzz. Access to the feature will be through Volkswagen's connected service, with a trial period available for each model before a subscription fee of $149 per year.
