Price cuts for epilepsy and vitamin D medications

An opinion published in the Official Journal on Thursday, October 15, 2026, announced new price reductions for two medications: the antiepileptic drug Vimpat (lacosamide, UCB) and its generic equivalents, and the vitamin D derivative Dedrogyl (calcifediol, Desma Pharma). These price revisions, concluded within the framework of agreements between the Economic Committee for Health Products (CEPS) and the concerned laboratories, will take effect on January 2, 2027.

Vimpat tablet prices will decrease

The price of Vimpat's tablets will decrease. The box of 56 tablets will cost 15.46 euros all taxes included (TTC), excluding dispensation fees for the 50 mg dosage, 30.48 euros for 100 mg, 45.53 euros for 150 mg, and 60.58 euros for 200 mg.

Generic versions of lacosamide also see price changes

Generic versions of lacosamide are also affected by this price revision, particularly those marketed by the laboratories Accord, Arrow, Biogaran, EG Labo, Sandoz, Teva, Viatris, Zentiva, and Zydus. The 50 mg dosage in a box of 56 tablets will cost 12.13 euros, the 100 mg dosage 24.14 euros, the 150 mg dosage 36 euros, and the 200 mg dosage 47.86 euros. Some generic manufacturers also offer a packaging of 14 tablets, which will cost 3.20 euros. All these prices are exclusive of dispensation fees.

Dedrogyl sees a smaller price reduction

Dedrogyl (calcifediol, Desma) also benefits from a decrease in its price, but more limited at 2%. Its TTC price will be 4.82 euros for 15 mg/100 ml in a 10 ml dropper bottle. The Calcifédiol Desma 15 mg/100 ml, as well as the Calcifédiol Gerda, will cost 4.71 euros for the same packaging.
