KM Malta Airlines has launched a new rail access point in France as part of a collaboration with SNCF Voyageurs, a French rail company, to promote combined air and rail travel through a single booking system. This partnership allows passengers to pair a flight to or from Malta with a TGV INOUI or OUIGO train journey, with connections at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle and Lyon-Saint-Exupéry. The combined tickets will be available through KM Malta Airlines' website and mobile app and will be treated as one seamless journey. In the event of disruptions on either the air or rail portion of the trip, passengers will be offered alternative routes without additional charges, provided they meet the relevant conditions. The partnership is designed to extend KM Malta Airlines' reach beyond its current French destinations, which include Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle, Paris-Orly, Lyon, and Brussels. Through the Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle station, the Train + Air option is expected to connect passengers to 25 destinations in France and Brussels, such as Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Rennes, Strasbourg, Lille, and Montpellier. From Lyon-Saint-Exupéry, the rail links will cover Avignon, Grenoble, Marseille, Montpellier, and Nîmes. This agreement enables KM Malta Airlines to target travelers who are not based in the Paris or Lyon regions, including both leisure and business passengers looking for more reliable connections between rail and air travel. According to David Curmi, CEO of KM Malta Airlines, the partnership broadens the company’s reach in France and gives customers more options and flexibility when planning trips to Malta. By integrating the Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle TGV station and the Lyon-Saint-Exupéry station, KM Malta Airlines is reinforcing its strategy of offering multimodal travel options rather than introducing new flight routes. OUIGO trains serving the Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle TGV station are now part of the Train + Air offer, alongside the TGV INOUI. This agreement follows SNCF Voyageurs' expansion of its Train + Air service, with KM Malta Airlines joining a list of airline partners that includes Air France, which has extensive experience in this area. SNCF Voyageurs reports that its Train + Air offering now includes 16 airline partners.
