French government announces full salary coverage for small businesses affected by recent urban violence in Lyon.
State covers partial activity for affected businesses
The State has announced it will fully cover the costs of partial activity for businesses affected by damage on October 17 and 18, provided they have fewer than 250 employees. This is a new support measure aimed at helping merchants impacted by urban violence during those dates.Affected businesses concentrated in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Several hundred businesses in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region have been affected, with a particular concentration in Lyon. These businesses have suffered damage that has disrupted their operations and forced them to reduce activity.Employees receive salary allowances
Employees who are unable to work due to the damage will receive an allowance equivalent to 60 percent of their gross salary. This increases to 100 percent for those earning the minimum wage, ensuring they are not left without income during the disruption.State covers employer’s share of allowance
The State will fully cover the portion of the allowance that would normally be the employer’s responsibility. This reduces the financial burden on affected businesses and helps them maintain their workforce during the recovery period.Support complements existing measures
This new measure complements existing support devices, such as the single desks of the chambers of commerce and industry (CCI), which are tasked with guiding affected professionals through the process of seeking assistance and recovery.Aim is to preserve jobs until reopening
The goal of these measures is to help businesses maintain their employees’ jobs until they can reopen, which is expected to be a few weeks before the end-of-year holidays. This support aims to stabilize the affected businesses during a critical time of the year.
