Anti-migrant activist Danny Tommo, who uses the name Daniel Thomas, has reportedly lost his Channel policing boat, named The Patriot, after it sank in Littlehampton, West Sussex, in June. The boat was purchased in April using donations from supporters through his Patriot Platform group, an anti-immigration movement linked to recent protests in Portsmouth and Dover. The vessel was reportedly damaged due to mechanical issues at the mouth of the Arun River, though Thomas initially claimed the sinking was the result of sabotage by left-wing activists. According to an invoice shared on social media, Thomas was charged £1,775 by Littlehampton Harbour for recovery efforts, including £758 for the use of a recovery vessel. Despite the incident, Thomas has launched a new crowdfunding campaign to buy a second boat, raising over £21,000 through a GiveSendGo page. The campaign states that donations will be used for transportation vehicles, new boats, marine equipment, fuel, accommodation, and secure facilities to support "essential water-based operations." In a social media post, Thomas expressed his attachment to the original boat, saying he had spent 14 hours aboard it and wanted to continue using such vessels. He also noted that he personally contributed £400 to the campaign and urged supporters to help further. Thomas described himself as a "devoted Christian, proud dad and entrepreneur" and has previously called on others to donate boats or equipment to his movement. His fundraising page emphasizes that the Patriot Platform is an "organised, lawful movement" aimed at resisting what it describes as the erosion of British sovereignty, culture, and freedoms. The Independent has reached out to Thomas for comment, but as of now, no response has been received. The incident highlights the ongoing efforts by anti-migrant groups to operate in the English Channel, often using privately funded initiatives to support their activities.
