Iranian president highlights food challenges

The Iranian president, Massoud Pezeshkian, stated on Saturday, October 24, that many Iranians were having difficulty feeding themselves, due to the intensification of economic pressure on the country linked to the conflict with the United States.

Economic pressure worsens food security

Pezeshkian emphasized that rising inflation, currency devaluation, and restricted access to international markets have made it harder for ordinary Iranians to afford basic necessities, including food.

Conflict with the U.S. impacts economy

The economic challenges are partly attributed to ongoing tensions with the United States, which have led to sanctions and reduced trade opportunities, further straining Iran’s already fragile economy.

Government seeks solutions

In response, the government has been exploring ways to mitigate the crisis, including increasing domestic production and seeking alternative trade partners to reduce reliance on foreign markets.
