Companies partner for AI factory design

Dassault Systèmes and Vertiv are working together to improve the planning and construction of "AI factories," which are specialized facilities designed to support artificial intelligence development. Their collaboration focuses on treating these facilities as complex industrial systems, allowing for digital representation and testing before physical construction begins.

Digital tools enable virtual testing

Dassault Systèmes is providing its model-based systems engineering tools, simulation software, and virtual twin technology to help design and test infrastructure. Vertiv’s equipment is being represented as part of an integrated digital system, linking requirements, components, and engineering decisions in a traceable way.

Testing before construction reduces costs

This approach allows project teams to explore different infrastructure configurations and evaluate the impact of changes before they lead to delays or increased costs during construction. By simulating scenarios in advance, teams can make more informed decisions and avoid expensive mistakes on-site.

Focus on prefabricated infrastructure

The collaboration initially targets Vertiv SmartRun, a prefabricated infrastructure system installed above server racks in data centers. This system includes power distribution, cooling, containment, cabling, and monitoring, with a modular design that minimizes the need for on-site adjustments.

Digital twin supports simulation

Vertiv has created a digital twin of SmartRun for use in NVIDIA Omniverse DSX workflows. This model includes configuration rules and dependencies between components, enabling the simulation of how different design choices affect the overall installation.

Expanding to broader infrastructure

The partnership aims to apply this approach to more comprehensive infrastructure solutions, such as Vertiv OneCore. Vertiv’s SimReady assets are being developed as configurable models that can be used as a starting point for customer projects based on NVIDIA reference architectures.

Using common design frameworks

The collaboration specifically references the NVIDIA Vera Rubin DSX AI Factory architecture and the NVIDIA Omniverse DSX Blueprint. These frameworks provide a shared reference for virtual design, helping to standardize processes and reduce the need for each project to start from scratch.
