The Art on Paper fair in Brussels is celebrating its tenth anniversary after a one-year break, returning with a new artistic director, Emmanuelle Indekeu. Indekeu is also the head of the art program at TheMerode, a private club in Brussels. The fair faced challenges last year but is now presenting itself as a resilient edition, showing its continued relevance in the art world. Jean de Malherbe, who runs the Brussels branch of the Paris-based gallery La Forest Divonne, welcomed the fair’s return, noting that it has had six successful editions in the past. Two artists highlighted at this year’s fair are Valérie Novello, a Franco-Italian artist known for transforming paper into almost three-dimensional forms, and Caribaï, a Franco-Venezuelan artist influenced by a childhood in Japan. The fair also features Christophe Person, who opened a second gallery space in Brussels in June 2025. Person is using the fair to showcase artists who focus on drawing, including Mamadou Cissé from Senegal, Thiemoko Claude Diarra from Belgium and Mali, and Raymond Tsham, a Congolese-Belgian artist whose work explores traditional African art in urban settings. A new section called "Edition" is being introduced to celebrate the art of multiples, mainly prints, which adds a fresh dimension to the fair. Other sections include those dedicated to established sculptors, emerging artists, and a "Solo" section featuring individual artists such as Pieter Laurens Mol, a Dutch conceptual artist; Shinzan Kurihara, a Japanese calligrapher; and Amélie Royer, a French artist. These sections provide a diverse range of artistic expressions and opportunities for visitors to engage with different styles and mediums. The Art on Paper fair will take place from October 2, 2026, to October 4, 2026, at the Tour & Taxis venue in Brussels. This event continues to be a significant gathering for art enthusiasts and professionals in the region, showcasing the evolving landscape of contemporary art.
