In September 2024, Dreame introduced the L40 Ultra, a robot vacuum priced at 1,199 euros at launch. Since then, the company has released a newer version, the L40 Ultra A, which offers significantly improved suction power and a lower price. The L40 Ultra A boasts a suction power of 24,000 Pa, more than double that of the original L40 Ultra, which had a suction power of 11,000 Pa. On Amazon, the L40 Ultra A is currently available at a 30% discount, bringing its price down to 349 euros from an original launch price of 499 euros. This makes it 200 euros cheaper than the L40 Ultra. Dreame emphasizes the L40 Ultra A's powerful suction, which it claims is measured in its own laboratory. The robot is equipped with two anti-tangle brushes: a main TriCut brush designed to cut long hair and other debris, and a side brush that avoids tangling. When the robot detects a carpet, it automatically switches to maximum suction for more effective cleaning. All these features can be customized through a mobile app, making the operation familiar to users who already own a robot vacuum. The L40 Ultra A performs an initial mapping of your home, after which users can merge rooms or set up forbidden zones. However, it lacks some features found in the L40 Ultra, such as an extendable side brush that can reach into corners and a maintenance station that uses heated water (65 °C) and warm air to clean and dry the mops. The L40 Ultra A uses cold water and ambient air, which may take longer to dry and could be less effective for removing stubborn stains. Despite these differences, both models are effective at cleaning floors. The main trade-off is the L40 Ultra A's lack of a heated maintenance station, which could be a drawback in colder months when humidity is higher. For most users, the L40 Ultra A offers a powerful cleaning performance at a significantly lower price, even if it lacks some of the more advanced features of the L40 Ultra.
