The Samsung 990 Pro 4 To SSD is currently available on Amazon for 549.99 €, which is a discount from its usual price of 625 €. This offer is part of the Prime Flash Days promotion, which is only available to Amazon Prime members. The promotion is ongoing until tonight. The SSD is an internal storage device that uses the M.2 2280 format and a PCIe 4.0 interface, making it suitable for high-performance computing tasks. However, it does not include a heatsink, which means it cannot be used directly in a PlayStation 5 console. The drive has a capacity of 4 terabytes, making it ideal for storing large files, video libraries, or extensive game collections. Samsung states that the SSD can achieve sequential read speeds of up to 7,450 megabytes per second and write speeds of 6,900 megabytes per second. These speeds are among the fastest available for consumer-grade SSDs. The drive also comes with Samsung Magician, a software tool that allows users to monitor performance, manage firmware updates, and optimize the drive's operation. A test of the 1 terabyte version of the Samsung 990 Pro SSD earned it a score of 9 out of 10, indicating strong performance. However, to fully utilize its capabilities, the drive must be installed in a compatible M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 slot. It uses TLC (Triple-Level Cell) memory, which is a type of flash memory that offers a good balance between performance and cost, and includes a dedicated DRAM cache to improve data access speeds. Despite the current discount, the price of the Samsung 990 Pro 4 To SSD remains relatively high due to global inflation and increased manufacturing costs. It is recommended for users who require high storage capacity and fast data access, such as professionals working with large files or gamers with extensive libraries. For users with more modest needs, a less expensive SSD may be a more practical choice. To take advantage of the Prime Flash Days promotion, users must have an Amazon Prime subscription, which can be obtained through a 30-day free trial or by paying 69€ per year, 6.99€ per month, or 3.49€ per month for students and those aged 18-22 through Amazon Prime Student.
