Strictly Come Dancing contestant Lacey Turner has opened up about her experience of having a miscarriage while working on the set of the long-running soap opera EastEnders. The 38-year-old actress, who is now a mother to three children, revealed she had two miscarriages before giving birth to her daughters Dusty, seven, and Gipsy, 20 months, and her son Trilby, five. Speaking to Prima magazine, Turner said she had a miscarriage while filming EastEnders and initially handled the situation with a "matter-of-fact" attitude, choosing to "just carry on." Looking back, she admitted she wishes she had reacted differently, but noted the support she received from those around her. She now feels more open about discussing such personal experiences. Turner first joined EastEnders in 2004 as Stacey Slater, a role she played until 2010. During that time, her character became infamous for confessing to the murder of Archie Mitchell and fleeing Walford on Christmas Day. After a four-year hiatus, during which she appeared in various TV projects including the supernatural drama Bedlam and the BBC series Call The Midwife, Turner returned to the soap in 2014. She remained with the show until last year, when her character moved to Brazil to start a new life near her off-screen brother, Sean. Now taking a break from EastEnders, Turner has signed up for Strictly Come Dancing, a popular British dance competition where celebrities partner with professional dancers. She revealed she has been asked to join the show multiple times in the past but has now decided to take part because she feels "nearly 40" and wants to challenge herself by stepping out of her comfort zone. Turner hopes to show her children that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. She described the experience as a kind of "midlife crisis," but one that she is embracing with enthusiasm. Turner is one of 15 celebrities competing in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing series, which has seen a new format introduced. She was paired with Italian dancer Vito Coppola during the show’s launch on Saturday, 19 September. While the first live performances are yet to happen, Turner is considered one of the favorites to do well in the competition. Bookmakers PaddyPower have given her odds of 13/2 to win the Glitterball trophy, placing her among a select group of contenders including former Love Island contestant Dani Dyer, Emmerdale actor Lawrence Robb, and Australian singer Delta Goodrem.
