Fiat Doblò returns to production in Turkey

The Fiat Doblò is returning to production in Bursa, Turkey, as part of a new initiative called K9 by Tofaş, a joint venture between Stellantis and Koç Holding. This marks the first time the model will be produced since 2023, when its production was halted.

New models on the same production line

Alongside the Fiat Doblò, the K9 project includes the production of four other models: the Citroën Berlingo, Opel Combo, Peugeot Rifter, and Peugeot Partner, all on the same production line. This approach aims to streamline manufacturing and reduce costs.

Significant investment and production goals

The K9 project represents a 300 million dollar investment, with plans to produce 100,000 vehicles annually, potentially increasing to 150,000 units in the long term. Around 20% of these vehicles are expected to be exported, and the project will create approximately 1,000 new jobs.

Launch ceremony and political involvement

The launch of the K9 project was marked by a ceremony at the Tofaş plant in Bursa, attended by the Turkish Minister of Industry and leaders from Koç Holding. The event highlighted the significance of the project for Turkey's automotive industry.

Strategic importance and long-term vision

Mustafa Varank, president of the Industry Commission of the Turkish Parliament, emphasized that producing five different models in Bursa reflects confidence in Turkey's industrial capabilities. This aligns with broader national goals to strengthen the country's automotive and engineering sectors.

Stellantis and Koç Holding's collaboration

Samir Cherfan, head of operations for Stellantis in the Middle East and Africa, highlighted the K9 project's role in assembling five models on a single platform, preparing for future electric light commercial vehicles. The long-term partnership with Koç Holding has been essential to this achievement.
