The fourth edition of the GOFab! industry event is set to take place on Tuesday, October 13, at the Arena Saint-Étienne Métropole. This gathering brings together professionals, experts, and solution providers to discuss key topics such as artificial intelligence, production technologies, economic sovereignty, recruitment challenges, and the transformation of jobs. The event occurs against a backdrop of a slowing pace of reindustrialization in the region. According to the Industrial Barometer published in March 2026 by the Direction générale des Entreprises, the net balance of new industrial sites, expansions, and significant closures was +19 in 2025, down from +88 in 2024. In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the balance stood at +6, with 46 new or expanded sites and 40 closures or reductions. This indicator applies to industrial sites employing more than 20 people and includes some major expansions. In the Loire department, industry remains a significant economic force. According to data from Insee, the national statistics office, there were 50,507 employees and 5,300 companies in the industrial sector by the end of 2024. This accounts for 18.9% of all employees in the department, driven by strong specialization in areas such as metallurgy, mechanics, food processing, defense, and nuclear energy. However, companies in the region face several challenges, including rising energy costs, difficulties in accessing raw materials, international competition, the need for digital transformation, decarbonization efforts, and recruitment problems. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and its partners aim to address these issues through open dialogue and the pursuit of practical solutions. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and will open with a conference on the relationship between future industry and economic sovereignty, featuring representatives from the nuclear, defense, and aerospace sectors. Two roundtable discussions will follow. At 11:30 a.m., the first will focus on breakthrough technologies and their impact on the competitiveness of strategic industries. Participants will include representatives from Cetim, Evolutis Group, Thales, Loire Industrie, Safran Aerosystems, and WIPSIM. At 4 p.m., a second session will explore human capital, diversity, and new management practices, with contributions from Enise, Setforge Barriol & Dallière, Haulotte Group, Groupe Gonzales, and Sam Outillage. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in nine workshops on performance and competitiveness, visit a showroom featuring nearly 60 solution providers, and schedule business-to-business meetings with buyers from the Lyon Pacte PME Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes network between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. A "Wall of Jobs" will be set up to gather insights on hard-to-fill positions, underestimated skills, and emerging professions. The event will conclude in the evening with the GOFab! Awards, scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Five awards will be presented in the categories of innovation, industrial transformation, international engagement, corporate social responsibility, and startup excellence. The design of these awards involves the École supérieure d'art et design de Saint-Étienne and the CFAI of the UIMM.
