Yacht race begins in Bonifacio

The Yacht Club of Bonifacio introduced the Bonifacio IRC Cup this year, which included races held on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as the Tour de Corse LV Overseas.

Tour de Corse starts under cliffs

The Tour de Corse, which gathered around forty yachts, set off on Thursday at 5 p.m. under the cliffs, following a non-stop route of 250 miles that began with the ascent of the West Coast.

Team Guenifey takes early lead

On Friday at 4:30 a.m., the 70-foot Intuition (Vincent Beuvry) was the first to pass the Cap Corse ahead of the TP52 Team Guenifey (Julien Llorca). The two yachts engaged in a close competition during the descent of the East Coast.

Team Guenifey overtakes and wins

On Friday in the middle of the morning, Team Guenifey overtook Intuition and took the lead in the race. The boat of Julien Llorca crossed the finish line under the cliffs on Friday at 7:08 p.m., completing the Tour de Corse in 26 hours and 8 minutes, 11 minutes behind the race record held since 2014 by Lionel Péan on the VOR.

Other yachts finish later

At 7:49 p.m., Intuition crossed the finish line in turn, while Marc Rouanne on Jacanda III finished at 9:45 p.m. Although the real-time podium was known, it was necessary to wait to determine the winners in the compensated time categories.

Winners announced at ceremony

These rankings were officially announced this afternoon during the trophy ceremony. Thus, the first edition of the Bonifacio IRC Cup was won by Team Guenifey (Julien Llorca), who was also the winner in real time.
