Emilien Jacquelin has been competing in three Italian cycling races over the past few days: the Coppa Agostoni, the Coppa Bernocchi, and the Trois Vallées Varésines. These events took place in Lombardy, a region in northern Italy that Jacquelin has expressed a special connection to. Speaking to the Italian media outlet Biathlon Azzurro, Jacquelin said, "It's incredible! Participating in races in Italy is something incredible. It was my dream when I was a child and I am very happy." Jacquelin also mentioned that he recently competed in the Winter Olympics, where he won two medals, and is now racing alongside top cyclists in the professional peloton. During the Trois Vallées Varésines, Jacquelin raced alongside world champion Brandon McNulty and other elite riders such as Tom Pidcock and Enric Mas. He reflected on his transition from biathlon to cycling, stating, "I think that when you are an athlete, you can do different things. You always have the ability to change sports. I, when I made this choice, I did not know if I would be able to participate in races with the great ones! But yes, I put all the strength and all the heart that I can into this challenge." Jacquelin had previously competed for the continental team Decathlon-CMA CGM before joining a World Tour team, where he rode alongside riders like Olav Kooij, who won a stage at the Tour de France. Jacquelin chose to skip the 2026-2027 biathlon season to focus on cycling and is now seeking a team for the upcoming season. He previously competed in the Tour du Limousin, where he achieved a 26th place in one stage. During that event, he often acted as a support rider, helping his team by carrying water bottles or riding at the front of the peloton when needed. The Decathlon-CMA CGM team won seven victories out of the 15 days of racing that Jacquelin participated in. Jacquelin announced on Instagram that these races marked his final competitions of the year under the Decathlon-CMA CGM jersey, saying, "It was the last race of the season. The future remains to be written, but already infinitely grateful and happy." He is now looking for a team to compete in his first full season as a professional cyclist and has joined the same agent as Paul Seixas. Jacquelin, who is 31, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to pursue a childhood dream, saying, "I fully realize the chance I have to open this new door and discover an universe that has always attracted me." Jacquelin will decide by late August whether to participate in the 2026/2027 winter biathlon season. He will also compete in the Polynormande on August 16, his first professional race, and will represent France in the road race of the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Tarente. He will also compete in the Tour of Great Britain, his first foreign race, and has been classified in the 2.Pro UCI ProSeries. Jacquelin has been retained for the Grand Prix de Wallonie but abandoned the race due to a chain drop. He officially announced his absence from the 2026/2027 biathlon season, and former biathlete Simon Fourcade noted that his presence will be missed. Jacquelin has faced challenges, including a clavicle fracture in early May, but he believes it served as a catalyst for his cycling career. He finished 59th in the Cours-la-Ville Grand Prix and 88th in the Polynormande, his first professional race. He also finished 93rd in the first stage of the Tour of Great Britain and 60th in the second stage. His support work for his leaders, including Olav Kooij, was noted, and he finished 74th in the second stage of the Tour du Limousin. Jacquelin has received praise from teammates and former athletes, including Martin Fourcade and Eric Perrot, for his transition to cycling. His performance in the road race of the 2026 Mediterranean Games was 14th place, and he finished 52nd in the 4th stage of the Tour of Great Britain.
