The new hosts of The Grand Tour—Francis Bourgeois, Thomas Holland, and James Engelsman—have been given guidance by the show's former stars, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, as they prepare for the upcoming season. The incoming hosts have reportedly expressed a "lot of trepidation and fear" about taking on the role, acknowledging the pressure of following in the footsteps of the original trio. The show, known for its high-octane automotive adventures and humor, has seen a transition in hosting after the original cast moved on. Francis Bourgeois, a social media personality and train enthusiast, was chosen as a host despite initially being surprised by the opportunity. He gained fame through his trainspotting videos on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, which often went viral. Bourgeois also worked as a mechanical engineer at Rolls-Royce for six months, which has given him a solid understanding of car mechanics and engineering. Thomas Holland, originally from Canada and a biology graduate, founded Throttle House in 2015, a channel that initially focused on BMW builds and car reviews. James Engelsman, from the UK, joined Throttle House in 2018 after collaborating with Holland, contributing ideas and appearing in videos. The trio's expertise in niche car topics and their work with Throttle House helped secure their positions as the new hosts. The transition has been supported by the original hosts, who have offered advice and encouragement. James May told the new hosts to "just do your thing," while Clarkson and Hammond have provided support and guidance. The new season of The Grand Tour is set to premiere on Prime Video on Friday, September 4, marking the start of a new era for the popular motoring show.
