In addition to the color change, the new pink plates no longer include the department number. Instead, they clearly display the expiration date of the temporary registration on two lines on the right side of the plate. This change is intended to prevent drivers from extending their temporary registration period indefinitely. The rollout of pink plates is part of a broader effort to modernize and streamline France’s vehicle registration system.
