Festival dates and details

The 48th edition of the Cinemed Festival will be held in Montpellier from October 16 to 24, showcasing 239 titles, including nine feature films competing for the Antigone d'Or award.

Venue change and support

The festival had to reorganize its plans after a meteorological event made the Corum, its usual venue, partially unusable. However, it received support from Pathé, a major French cinema chain, to help with the reorganization.

Opening film and guest

The event will open with the Venetian competitor Les Cœurs affamés, directed by Italian filmmaker Nanni Moretti. French actress Camelia Jordana will be the guest of honor, participating in a public meeting on October 18 and having eight of her films screened.

Festival highlights and program

The festival will offer a rich program, including a tribute to Spanish filmmaker Pablo Berger, a focus on 13 films, and a series dedicated to Italian director Marco Bellochio. There will also be a retrospective of 14 films by Vittorio De Sica and a focus on Arabic fantasy cinema.

Competition films and jury

Nine feature films will compete for the 2026 Antigone d'Or, which will be awarded by a jury chaired by Thierry Klifa. Among the competing films are Le Prix et la Valeur by Kosovar director Visar Morina and Dua by Blerta Basholli.

Additional films and sections

Four films unveiled at Venice Spotlight will also be in contention, including I Matter by Alina Serban and Guria by Levan Koguashvili. The 11 feature films in the Panorama section will be eligible for the public prize, along with documentaries like L'Autre Côté du soleil by Tawfik Sabouni.

Premieres and special events

The festival will include premieres such as the Venice-prized Un bon petit soldat by Stéphane Brizé and the animated film Carmen, l'oiseau rebelle by Sébastien Laudenbach. It will also feature a series by Alberto Rodríguez and a "Nuit en enfer" with five films.

Professional days and meetings

From October 20 to 22, the professional days of the Cinemed Meetings will take place, focusing on industry discussions and networking opportunities for film professionals.
