Lamborghini Murciélago project under way
In Las Vegas, Throtl and WD-40 are transforming an abandoned 2006 Lamborghini Murciélago into a twin turbo show car for the SEMA Show 2026. The car, which was seriously damaged and left abandoned, is being completely rebuilt with high-performance parts and custom modifications.Engine upgrade aims for 2,000 horsepower
The Murciélago’s original 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, which produced about 640 horsepower in its LP640 series version, is being modified to reach power levels suitable for a race car. The team’s goal is to achieve around 2,000 horsepower, significantly higher than the original output.Custom parts and modifications
The project includes a wide-body kit from Liberty Walk, a 6-speed manual transmission by Royalty Exotics, Air Lift Performance pneumatic suspension, forged HRE wheels with Michelin tires, and a custom interior made by AP Upholstery. The paint job is being handled by Torrey Pines Collision Center.Technical challenges encountered
The team faced a setback when the chosen V12 engine did not match the electrical harness. This led to the removal of the installation and the start of a completely new wiring system. As of the last update, the cooling circuit was completed, the intake was nearly ready, and the oil was circulating in the engine and up to the two turbochargers.Time pressure for SEMA Show 2026
With less than two weeks before the opening of the SEMA Show 2026, the team is under pressure to complete the project on time. The installation of two Garrett turbochargers and a MoTeC management system remains a key part of the build.
