Amateur darts players are preparing to compete in a new Netflix show that could see them face off against rising star Luke Littler. The competition is set to begin with regional heats in London on Saturday, where thousands of players will take part in the initial stages. The show, hosted by well-known British broadcaster Gary Lineker, will be available on Netflix starting October 30. Up to 20 players will be selected to challenge Littler in a single game of 501, a popular darts game where players aim to reduce their score from 501 to zero in a set number of throws. The winner could take home a jackpot of £501,000. The qualification process for the show is divided into three stages. First, players must successfully complete a checkout of 501 in a specified number of darts, which is a common scoring method in darts where players aim to hit specific numbers to reach zero. This initial test is open to players aged 12 and older. Following this, successful participants will be interviewed by the show’s production team to gauge their suitability for the reality television aspect of the competition. The first heat is scheduled to take place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London on Saturday, with a second regional qualification event planned for Manchester on September 19. These events will serve as the gateway for players to advance in the competition. After these initial rounds, the most promising candidates will face a final assessment by a panel of former Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) players. This panel will evaluate the players' darting skills and determine whether they can offer a realistic challenge to Littler. Those who pass the final stage will be invited to the live show, which is set to air at the end of October. The competition promises not only the excitement of darts but also the chance for participants to win a life-changing prize. The show aims to blend the sport’s competitive spirit with the entertainment value of reality television, offering a unique glimpse into the world of amateur darts players striving to face one of the game’s most prominent figures.
