A first look at the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing 2026 launch show has been revealed, featuring new hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe. The trio were spotted filming the opening number for the series, which will mark their debut as presenters following the departure of long-time hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. The behind-the-scenes images show the hosts traveling together in a golf buggy, with Willis seen waving the famous Strictly glitterball trophy, a symbol of the competition's prestige. The set design for the launch show includes classic cars, tropical palm trees, fairy lights, and floral displays, all blending with the show's signature glitz and glamour. A sparkling silver star and a disco ball add to the festive atmosphere. The opening routine will be extravagant, with judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke showcasing their dance moves. This performance will feature five new professional dancers—Aleksandra Isaeva, Cristian Priori, Lethabo Monametsi, Maddie Ingoldsby, and Mark Karmalita—joining the 14 returning professionals in a dynamic display of choreography. The show is speculated to launch on September 19, with celebrities meeting their dance partners on the dancefloor for the first time, rather than through pre-recorded videos. This change is expected to add a new layer of excitement and unpredictability to the series. The upcoming season promises a star-studded line-up, including former Love Island winner Dani Dyer-Bowen, actress Melanie Walters, former England footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips, and Australian singer Delta Goodrem. Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One and iPlayer in September, continuing its tradition of bringing together celebrities and professional dancers for a mix of competition, entertainment, and high-energy performances. The new hosts and set design signal a fresh start for the beloved show, while maintaining the charm and excitement that have made it a staple of British television.
