At the end of the third year of secondary school, a student typically knows about 15 different professions, most of which are connected to their immediate environment and daily life. The industrial sector, a crucial part of the economy and national sovereignty, is one of the less visible areas of employment, as many of its jobs are performed out of public view. However, these roles are deeply embedded in everyday life — from the electricity that powers our devices to the textiles we wear and the transport systems we rely on. The industry is actively seeking the next generation of workers, with a goal of hiring 600,000 people in sustainable roles by 2026.
These jobs are available across the country, at various education levels, and are open to both girls and boys. To raise awareness about these opportunities, Forindustrie has created a free, fun, and educational platform. It also organizes a Grand Challenge interclass event from November 16 to December 4, 2026. If your students participate, they will be introduced to the diverse opportunities within the industry.
What is the Grand Challenge of Forindustrie?
When most people think of industry, words like "digital," "energy transition," or "data analysis" may not come to mind. Yet, the industry is evolving and recruiting across France. To showcase its modern aspects and the range of careers it offers, Forindustrie provides a fun and educational platform aimed at middle and high school students, as well as students in general education. The goal is to encourage reflection on the industry, which has often been overlooked, and to highlight the contributions of its jobs to society. Each year, the platform is enriched by the contributions of numerous industrial and institutional partners. To engage students in these discussions, a Grand Challenge interclass is held from November 16 to December 4, 2026.
During this three-week period, the platform's educational content is integrated into a story and a digital universe inspired by video games. In addition, video conferencing sessions are available with professionals from 20 different industry sectors, allowing students to ask questions about their jobs and career paths. Classes that earn the most points at the regional level — and even nationally — will win visits to industrial sites in spring 2027.
Labeled as Industry Week, this project is developed in collaboration with the National Education system and receives support from Avec l'Industrie.
