Vert, an independent media organization, is seeking a political and ecological journalist for a fixed-term contract from October 2026 to July 2027. The journalist will cover the French presidential campaign and legislative elections, with a focus on ecological issues and their place in political discourse. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of French politics and environmental topics, and will be responsible for analyzing candidates' platforms, conducting on-site reporting, and contributing to Vert’s mission of making complex ecological and political issues accessible to a wide audience. Vert is a generalist media that uses the ecological emergency as a central framework to interpret current events. It provides short, simple, and free content through newsletters, a popular website, and active social media accounts, including over 570,000 followers on Instagram. With more than 140,000 subscribers and a team of 18 employees, Vert is funded entirely by reader donations and is known for its independence and impactful reporting. The media organization collaborates with various institutions, associations, and traditional media, and has taken a strong stance on issues such as climate change, feminism, and anti-racism. The journalist will work closely with the editorial team, including the editor-in-chief and editorial director, to report on the presidential campaign, analyze the role of ecology in public debate, and decode the proposals of political parties and candidates. The role requires continuous monitoring of news sources, participation in editorial meetings, and the ability to find original angles and topics that align with Vert’s mission. The journalist will also conduct field reporting and investigations, contributing to the media’s reputation for in-depth and accessible journalism. The position offers a gross salary of 2,700€ per month, with benefits such as subsidized meal vouchers, health insurance, and a sustainable mobility allowance.
