Marks & Spencer is bringing back the St Michael brand, a name that has been associated with the company since 1928. The brand was originally used to label high-quality products made exclusively for M&S, and it was named after one of the company's co-founders, Michael Marks. The St Michael logo was no longer used by the year 2000, though the St Michael Promise, a guarantee of quality, remained in use. The brand made a comeback in 2021 with a small collection of men's clothing and has since been used to reintroduce nostalgic food products. One of the first products to return under the St Michael brand is the St Michael Big Six biscuit assortment, a classic collection that dates back to the 1950s. Originally a box featuring six types of biscuits, including teacakes, chocolate sandwich biscuits, and jaffa eclairs, the new version includes 21 biscuits across six of the most popular varieties. These include Milk Chocolate Fudge Creams, Milk Chocolate Sandwich Fingers, Jam Sandwich Creams, Outrageously Chocolatey Marbled Whirls, All Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies, and Outrageously Chocolatey Milk Chocolate Shortcakes. Priced at £5, the biscuit box will be available online through Ocado and will be sold in M&S stores nationwide starting September 30. The product development team at M&S has updated the original concept to appeal to modern consumers while preserving the nostalgic charm of the original. Martha Coakley, lead product developer for biscuits and savory snacking at M&S, explained that the revival of the St Michael brand was inspired by discovering the original pack in the M&S Archive. In addition to the biscuit revival, M&S has unveiled several other festive products during its recent Christmas Showcase event. These include new cookies, a refreshed frozen dessert range, a new Decaf Espresso Martini, a Merry Pizza Pie, and Clemencello, a new drink that offers an orange twist on the traditional limoncello. These items reflect the company's ongoing efforts to blend nostalgia with contemporary tastes during the holiday season.
