Event returns with expanded international presence

Shooting Locations Marketplace, an event for professionals in the movie-shoot industry, will hold its sixth edition on 14 and 15 October at the Feria de Valladolid (Valladolid Trade Fair). The event has grown in size and scope, featuring professionals from 27 countries and introducing new filming destinations such as Stockholm, Italy, Morocco, Uruguay, and Peru.

International participation highlights event's global reach

Approximately 85% of the participating location managers and producers are international, showing the event’s broad appeal. The structure remains consistent, with three main areas: a hiring marketplace with 1,500 pre-arranged meetings, talks and round-tables, and fam trips to discover future shooting locations in places like Estonia, Turkey, Sweden, Norway, Portugal, the Canary Islands, and Castile and León.

Positive feedback and areas for improvement

Feedback from both the supply and demand sides has been positive, with 93% of respondents praising the event's focus on the role of the location manager. Attendees have also appreciated the quality and variety of attendee profiles and the option to go on fam trips. Suggestions for improvement focus on operational matters and extending the event by an extra day.

Support from local and international institutions

The event is supported by institutions such as Valladolid City Council and the Regional Government of Castile and León, as well as professional associations including the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI), European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN), The European Producers Club (EPC), Crew United, European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE), and specialised media outlets like Cineuropa.

Event contributes to regional film industry growth

Organisers believe the event plays a significant role in attracting film shoots to the region, with 98% of location managers and producers stating they have obtained useful, valuable information for their upcoming projects. The event is held in Valladolid, a city known for its engagement with film, both professionally and publicly.

Conference addresses key industry challenges

The conference programme includes discussions on incentives, with several finance heads from major studios participating. Topics also cover issues arising from geopolitical and climate changes, identifying the right point of contact to manage shoots, especially international ones, the European audiovisual strategy, and Spain Film Commission presenting a workshop on creating screen-tourism experiences and the Film Data España platform.
