The Flammes de Charleville suffered a home defeat to ASVEL with a final score of 70-78, despite the standout performance of their point guard, Coline Franchelin. Franchelin, who stands at 1.69 meters and has played for several teams including Champagne Basket and La Roche Vendée before joining Charleville-Mézières for her fourth season, delivered an impressive display. She scored 25 points, made 6 out of 8 three-point shots, recorded 10 assists, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, and caused 7 fouls. Her performance evaluation of 36 was nearly half of her team's total (74), highlighting her dominant contribution. Franchelin had previously suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in October 2023, which sidelined her for a significant period. Despite being part of the "France group" — a selection of top French basketball players — she remains unselected for the competition due to the strong competition at her position, which includes several players from the WNBA. ASVEL's victory was supported by key performances from players such as Ainhoa Risacher, who scored 19 points, and Bethy Mununga, who added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Other contributors included Naomi Mbandu and Klaudia Papp, each scoring 10 points. The Flammes de Charleville might have been distracted by their upcoming qualification matches for the Euroleague regular season against Venice, where they won the first match by 20 points (101-81), and the second match is scheduled for Wednesday in Italy. Vaciana Gomis from L'Ardennais expressed disappointment with the loss, stating, "We had as our first objective to win the first two matches at home, it's failed." She acknowledged the team's defensive shortcomings and the tendency to overcomplicate their play, which led to costly mistakes. On the other hand, Yoann Cabioc'h, the Lyon coach from Le Progrès, praised his team's effort, noting, "We didn't come to lose obviously. We had a plan yes but I didn't expect it to be this bad to be honest." He commended the players for their concentration and energy despite not being fully prepared for the match.
