The Summer Biathlon VTT returned after a six-year break this weekend, taking place in Sappey-en-Chartreuse, Isère, last Sunday. The event, organized by the volunteer team of Ski Nordique Chartreuse, was well-received, with organizers expressing satisfaction with the weekend's outcome and already announcing plans for next year. A biathlon combines cross-country skiing with shooting, typically using rifles, but in this summer version, participants likely used bicycles instead of skis. The event featured multiple age categories, ensuring a wide range of competitors. Competitors were divided into several categories, including Men/Women – 18 to 50 years, Men/Women – Over 50 years, Men/Women – Under 18 years, Men/Women – Under 15 years, Boys/Girls – Under 12 years, and Boys/Girls – Under 10 years. This structure allowed athletes of all ages and skill levels to participate. In the Men/Women – 18 to 50 years category, Jules Chatelon and Madison Boissiere were crowned champions. Meanwhile, Pierre Boulegue and Estelle Durant took the top spots in the Men/Women – Over 50 years category. Additional news from the event included Jules Chatelon and Madison Boissiere's victory in the queen race, a term often used to denote a key or prestigious race within a competition. Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, another notable athlete, expressed confidence ahead of the world cup, indicating her readiness for higher-level competition. Estere Volfa shared her aspirations to compete in the senior category, showing her ambition to progress in the sport. The French team also launched their training in Font-Romeu, a well-known training location for winter sports. Meanwhile, the French women's team began their training in Ramsau, though they faced uncertainty about whether they would be able to ski due to potential weather or logistical challenges.
