A jewelry store in Nice was robbed during the night of Tuesday, October 7, to Wednesday, October 8. According to a press release from the prosecutor of Nice, Damien Martinelli, three armed individuals entered the Leclerc Saint-Isidore jewelry store, threatening the employees still inside and forcing them to the ground. The perpetrators then moved to the jewelry store le manège à bijoux, where they stole items that were "not stored in the safe," the prosecutor explained. One of the suspects was quickly placed in custody by the Bac, a specialized anti-crime unit. The arrested individual was described as masked and armed. The prosecutor noted that "the other two managed to flee, but a hand gun was found in a VTC vehicle," referring to a private hire car. The suspect, who has a prior conviction for "theft and association of criminals," was taken into custody. Two other individuals involved in the robbery are still at large and are being actively sought by authorities. An investigation has been launched and is being handled by the local judicial police service in the Alpes-Maritimes department. The incident highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat organized crime in the region.
